about me

Where should I begin? I grew up in the woods of Hoodook, where I was raised by a rabid wolf and a grumpy troll named Meeshy. We went on many magical adventures together. My favorite experience with Meeshy was when we came across a beautiful damsel asleep in the Valley of Fairies. The young girl was a prisoner of the evil wizard Zulu and had somehow managed to escape from his evil grasp. Zulu lived in the back of the darkest, loneliest cave in all of Hoodook County.
Okay, so maybe I have a problem stretching the truth just a little bit… I actually wasn’t raised by a rabid wolf… Or a troll… I was raised by two loving humans who I liked to call Mom and Dad. Mom and Dad raised me in a small, West Texas town called Sweetwater. Like most kids there, I spent most of my days playing sports and counting down the days until I graduated and hit the road. When the day finally came for the awkward silk gowns, funny square hats, cheesy “I’ll remember you” speeches, and last minute yearbook scribbles I headed to Austin to attend The University of Texas. Four years later I’m still here and loving every minute of it. I plan on graduating next fall with a degree in Advertising and I have absolutely no idea where I’ll go from there… Landing a job at a solid ad agency? Maybe. Operating heavy machinery on the plains of Iowa? Hmm, tempting, but hopefully not. Playing the steel drums on a street corner in Jamaica? That’d be cool mon. Surfing the coast’s of Australia? Righteous. Still writing this blog and searching for a job? Probably.
This blog is actually an assignment for a class I’m currently in called Public Relations in Entertainment. I’ve never taken a PR class before and to be honest, I don’t really know what I’m doing – this could get interesting. All criticism, mockery, compliments and suggestions are gladly accepted.

Hi. I was wondering if you can teach me how to play the steel drum. I’m going to Jamaica in the summer and I think that might be a handy skill.

Thanks for the comment Matty Tress! The name “Meeshy” has actually been in my family for 13 generations. It came from the German name “Miichi,” which in Enlgish means “bony shoulders…” I have no idea why the name has stuck in the family so long, but everyone seems to like it. My family and I would be flattered if your sister chose to use this name for her newborn child. Keep me updated on what she decides!

Thanks for the info on the origin of Meeshy…I will let my sister know and then tell you what she decides. Although she does love the sound of the name, I am not sure if she will be crazy about the meaning which is significant to her. could Meeshy possibly have an alternate meaning or root? Thanks again for your help.
